International Railroad Discussion > Big tires coming to my area (Brazil)Date: 05/07/20 16:56 Big tires coming to my area (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi, MRS is coming from Rio de Janeiro to my area with a special cargo of big tires for mining trucks, maybe to Vale mining. Some folks recorded a video of the train at Juiz de Fora, MG. I hope it can arrive here in town on Saturday morning.

One makes "Earthmover Tires" that can be 13 feet tall. Many move to the port of Charleston SC for export and in these open top containers as shown. Some are shipped on low frame trailers so as to clear bridges and other low clearance areas. I have not seen any of these shipments handled by rail to the ports, so I believe they must be highway only from a relatively nearby plant.

It would make sense for them to ship by rail. But anything under about 500 miles will probably go by road. Date: 05/12/20 17:38 Re: Big tires coming my area (Brazil) Author: jcaestecker Thank you for your photos, Pedro. I never get 'Tired' of seeing them!
