For Pedro

I just happened upon these in travels through my files.  The s/b NS 098 was led by C40-8W #8334, blt 6//90 as CR #6083, to Progress Rail 2//20, with six new BB40-9Ws, Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia, 5/27/2011.  Gerry

This one is at Ranson, West Virginia.  These were going to the Estrada de Ferrio Vitoria-Minas a subsidiary of Vale Mining.

Those B+B trucks sure are interesting and a great solution to the lower weights allowed on the narrow gauge.

Hi, thanks for these pictures of Vale dash 9s. I think it was the last order to Brazil. Vale ordered some units like these to Moatize coal project in Mozambique. GE of Brazil (now Wabtech) also produces BB dash 9s to other companies, but Vale always order them from Eire.

You would think that ordering them from Erie would greatly increase the cost of the engines.

You would think that ordering them from Erie would greatly increase the cost of the engines. Shipping them from the US to Brazil can't be cheap.
