Hi, friend Gabriel Dalla found passenger train P01 that links Vitoria to Belo Horizonte while biking at RH 23. This train meets P02 that does the opposite direction at Governador Valadares, MG. Note the empty unit that goes ahead of the train checking if the tracks are OK. We call it "Batedor ". I do not know how it could be called in US.
BTW, the initials RH means Housing. Since EFVM mainline is dual tracks, it is divided in Housing sections where the trains can change from one track to other. The switching machines are controled by the Housings nearby.

The “Betador” function is done here by a track inspector in hi-rail truck.  Do they run a locomotive before all passenger trains in Brazil?
Locations where trains move from one main track to another are now called crossovers or Control Points.  Formerly, when the crossovers were operated manually, they were called “plants.”  They are also sometimes referred to as an “OS” which I think is an abbreviation used in the days telegraph communication.
The ”RH” was called a “Tower” in the days when an operator was stationed in them.  Now almost all crossovers are operated remotely by dispatchers; for example, most CSXT crossovers are now operated by dispatchers in Jacksonville, Florida; and most NS crossovers are operated by dispatchers in Atlanta Georgia.

Vale EFVM run a locomotive before the two daily passenger trains since the tragedies with the two ore mud dams that happened here in the last four years. The area served by EFVM has some dams in danger at the moment.
Vale RH are remotely controled from the dispatcher center in Vitoria, ES.
