International Railroad Discussion > PT KAI - Indonesian National Railways - EMD GT38AC Locomotives

I'm unclear on if these are new, or were sent over for repair.  I'm seem recall they were damaged when they first arrived at Progress Rail in Tacoma WA.   I was told they are the power equivalent of the SD70ACe locomotives now common in the US.    In anyevent these two, CC2051326 & CC2051315 are ready to loaded on a ship and sent back home.

The GT38AC has an eight cylinder 710 engine, producing 2,000 horsepower for traction. 

Just passing on what was told to me by my guide at Progress Rail.   I guess he could be wrong.

Interesting to see these units have the decorative circular plates on either side of the headlight.   Many of their steam locomotives had the same,  with stars affixed.  Photo below from July 1978

20521 and 20526 had damaged/twisted frames, photographed in transit to PR May 2019

5 years or so ago Indonesia changed their numbering methodology
CC unchanged = bogie arrangement
CC 205 21 was the number when built, with 205 the class, and 21 the sequential loco within that class
Under the new system renumbered CC 205 13 15
Again 205 the class, 2013 = 13  the year placed in service, with 15 the sequential 205 class loco placed in service that year
A number of locos carry both numbers
