Negishi bound empty cans

I was able to catch an empty can train bound for Negishi this afternoon.

Very nice. So what is considered a long train, in Japan? Average number of cars?

It is indeed a good question.

For freight trains, a 26 COFC car consist is the longest one while JR East operates a 17-car consist Shin-Kansen train.

And this is the shortest one you can get, a lite engine back to "Shin-Tsurumi."
