A goods train has derailed near Wagga Wagga, leaving the crew "shaken".Fire and Rescue NSW attended the incident at Bomen in the early hours of this morning.Emergency crews confirmed one locomotive and five carriages became derailed with two crew members on board escaping without injury."The train's crew are shaken but ok," FRNSW said."The cargo is not hazardous and the train will be righted this morning."
An investigation into the cause of the derailment is underway while the tracks are cleared.

I appreciate the post. Good, old Specialised Container Transport. There are obviously at least two derailed locomotives. Clearly one GT 46C-ACe, and probably the one on its side as well. Purely anecdotal, but last time I was downunder (2019), I heard at least one local enthusiast talk about the poor track conditions on the main south line. I believe the term 'goat path' was used. On the other hand, I have ridden the entire route one or more times and not found it rough. Sometimes stuff happens.

Got talking to a couple of the folks working on site.Seems the train ran a red indication and hit an open derail. This is the set of switches that go to a tank Farm ,Concrete tie plant ,and a container logistics yard.

I'm glad to hear the crew was only "shaken" and noth something worse.   Thanks for sharing the photos as that is not an angle of the unit commonly seen.

Yep, derail still works!   Those long boxcars, are those vents up along the roofline?

Unusual (for my eyes) tubular boom. Most be something new.

Nothing new about it. Telescopic crane booms have been around for years.

I don't believe he was speaking of the telescoping aspect of the crane, but the fact the the boom is round. I can't recall seeing that either.
