from  my 2012 Japan vacation ..in December.. i noticed some  railfans congregating at this station on the Maebashi line north of Tokyo on one very cold evening , so this means something interesting must be arriving

we did not have to wait long and this turned up ...

that Whistle would not be out of place on an American locomotive i presume?
