Hi, today July 1st,  the firefighters finally found the MRS AC44 that disappeared after the collapse of the mud dam in Brumadinho, MG Brazil. The accident happened in the morning of January 25, 2019 and killed 270 people, most of them were Vale mining employees. The body of 260 were found along this time. The engineer of the train was found in 2019 near the second unit of the train, but another guy of the crew that was in the ground was not found yet  and are among the last 10 to be found. The locomotive was under 15 meters of mud and 1.5 Km from the initial point of the dam collapse.

When I was a little kid I built such dams when playing in the mud. Adults should be more wise and experienced.

Any information on how much liability payments were made to kin of the dead?

Well, in general Vale will pay R$ 1 000 000 (one milion reais - about U$ 200,000) for each people died,  but many family did not agree with the amount and are asking for more. In fact, the amount is too low for a rich company like Vale, specially if we consider that the company knows the risk of the collapse of the dam. Two year before, another dam collapsed in Mariana MG killing 28 people.
