Train services in Iran ground to a halt when cyberattacks on July 9th crippled the national railway's computer system.  Trains were delayed or cancelled as computers in ticket offices, the national railway's website, and cargo services were disrupted.   Hackers placed a notice on electronic boards at stations instructing travellers to call a number, which in fact belonged to the office of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, for assistance!

Probably not.  He'd go after Russia directly.  Iran may not be our friend, but it's not a Russian ally.

I'd agree with that, but it's more complicated. Iran is within geographical influence from Russia, especially considering the former-USSR countries that border it to the Northeast.

Don't think most TO members paid attention to various events in 2020. For those who did, there's a certain irony of cyberattacks happening IN Iran, and the threat of retaliation FROM Iran that certain politicians whined about which did not materialize.

Probably came from Israel. They absolutely hate the Iranian government and they do have a bit of experience with hacking Iranian computers.
