Empty ore in Ewbank (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Hi, today I am visiting my mother in Teresópolis RJ, about 430 Km from my home. It is a nice city in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro state. To come here, I use BR-040 road that follows MRS railroad Centro line for a long distance. The Centro line was built by the ancient Dom Pedro II railroad (1858), that later became Central of Brazil (1889). In 1957, Central of Brazil became part of  RFFSA, that built another line for loaded trains called Ferrovia do Aço  (Steel rwy) and the Centro line became a line for empties going to the mines. It is possible to see some loaded trains there, specially the coal ones, but always running in the same direction to East. Today I stopped at the quiet town of Ewbank da Câmara  and could see two empties. I had no time to took photos of the first one, but after forty minutes another one came and I got it.
Here are some pics and a video.

1 - 3) The ancient Ewbank da Câmara station today works as a museum a community center.

Nice FAST empty ore train rolling smartly through Ewbank. I like the older signals and station, looks like a nice town.

I noticed a dwarf signal on the siding and a tall signal on the main line.  Isn't that unusual?  Are they simply for the track switch condition?  Or, for speed control?

The dwarf signal is for trains that use the siding and have the same function of the big one to mainline.

Also looks like the Trem sign is right over the siding and would get smacked by a passing trem...
