Broad gauge limestone train (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Yesterday morning I watched the first MRS limestone train running through EVP yard. This commodity is more common seen on narrow gauge trains of Vale and VLI. The train had seven cars loaded with cast iron and twenty four cars of limestone.

1) C44EMi 3951 leading the train at the upper crossing level;

2) C36-7 3811 in the consist.  It is one of the many
ex US diesel that arrived here circa 2003,

3) Train O582 crossing with empty ore C575 at EVP. In the foreground, we see the yard switchers U20C.

Nice to see all the action in your yard. Lots of different equipment. Fun to see an old US U-boat in the consist.

Hi Pedro,

I've been following your posts for years, very I teresting stuff always.

Recently I've been posting maps of international locations so I can look at the surrounding geography, rail links, etc.

If you post the city where your photos are, I may post the maps to some of them.

I looked around your home city, but don't see a RR yard.  Could you tell us where these photos are taken?

And very interesting broad gauge-narrow gauge dual gauge line!

I've seen narrow gauge - standard gauge, and standard gauge - Russian gauge.  But never narrow-broad.

(and are these tracks the same as Russian gauge?)

Hi Ted
The Brazilian broad gauge is 1,600mm and Russian is 1,520mm. The narrow gauge here is 1,000mm.
Look for the Vespasiano station and yard following the dashed line near the river. See pics attached.

Hi Pedro,

Thanks for the location info.  Looks like not all of the yard tracks have been uplaoded to OpenStreetMap.  The map has a main track and a siding.  in real life it looks like there is a main track and a three track yard.

I'll be posting more of these, if you don't mind.

Best,
Ted in OR
