Hi, today I travelled from my town Vespasiano MG to Rio de Janeiro RJ. It is a 500 km journey on BR 040 road. MRS tracks are close to the road for a long time. It is the famous Centro line of former "Central do Brasil" railroad (EFCB). But the road also cross the tracks of ancient Leopoldina Railway ( LR). In some locations, we can find abandonned tracks,  or just the remains of old lines and branches. One of my favourite is Alberto Torres, a small village across the road. It has a beautifull British bridge from 1860, that belonged to "Companhia União e Indústria, a company of carriage predecessor of the train era. The location also have an old dam from the end if 1800's.  The old station is made of thick stones. There is an old box car that was used in the cog railway section as a break car. Unfortunately it is abandonned and almost destroyed. A beautifull railroad arch bridge is close the station and in parallel to the old steel bridge.
