International Railroad Discussion > The SD40 on way to Chile (BRAZIL)Date: 10/25/21 14:42 The SD40 on way to Chile (BRAZIL) Author: pedrop Hi, my friend Eden Carvalho - who loves big cargos on trucks - sent me some pictures of the Progress Rail ex US SD40-2 rebuilt here in Brazil to Chile. There are three units on way to Chile at the moment. They are going to Santos port to be shipped to Chile.
Progress Rail used ex SD40-2 that were rented to VLI and Rumo as core to produce these special SD40's. The pictures were taken at Km 69 of Rodoanel road in São Paulo SP. 1 - 3) On the truck. That's all. I hope you like this serie. Pedro Rezende Vespasiano MG, https://youtube.com/c/minasgeraisrailways1 Date: 10/25/21 16:15 Re: The SD40 on way to Chile (BRAZIL) Author: Ritzville Very NICE detailed series on the SD-40 re-build. Lots of detailed pictures and a good looking paint job. You're right, does have a strange looking rear end.
Larry Date: 10/25/21 16:51 Re: The SD40 on way to Chile (BRAZIL) Author: stevelv Thanks Pedro for all the photos and videos you share with us. Just my opinion but I think that the nose chop detracts way more from the look of an SD40 than the unusual (but still kind of cool) rear end.

Date: 10/29/21 14:01 Re: The SD40 on way to Chile (BRAZIL) Author: zorz This unit is just so weird. What prime mover does it have? Why does it have a longer radiator section hanging off the long hood, but have radiator grills blanked out with the unit number on them? Why does it have a sand filler embedded in the nose? Does it have 1, 2 or 3 radiator fans?
My mind may implode until we get more info. Thanks for posting as always Pedro! |
