International Railroad Discussion > A look at Monte Azul (Brazil)Date: 12/28/21 16:20 A look at Monte Azul (Brazil) Author: pedrop My last post was on the rock slides and floods in Monte Azul (EMA) and Urandi hill. Here are some pictures from my friend Christopher took sometimes ago around that nice location. Monte Azul means Blue Mountain, as you can easily perceive in the pictures. It is located about 650 km from here. It is a desert area, very hot and dry. But it's a beautifull location for train watching due to old trackage around the mountains.

It belongs to VLI railroad Minas - Bahia subdivision nowadays.

Here in the U.S. they would be towed off and sold to scrap dealers. In that part of the narerow gauge are there very many trains running on it ?
