The sun is back (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Hi, after some weeks of heavy rains in the Southeast of Brazil, the sunny days are back. It doesn't mean the problems with mud and rock slides are gone. As usually happens, with the first sunny days some crack appears on the hills and we have dry slides. Some happened these days.

1 - 3) Magnesite train C558 is stopped here in EVP yard for a week waiting the tracks ahead to be clean from.mud and rock slides.  Everyday the crew turn the engines on to fill up the air reservoirs.

Here are two exemples of the slides that use to happens when the sun arrived after heavy rains. The BR262 road smashed by a huge slide happened today near Vale mining VDD yard. The other slide happened in Ouro Preto historical city last Wednesday.

From the looks of the land that collapsed it appears it was a man made hill, maybe land from a mine.  Would I be correct?

No, both are natural hills.

Nice to see sun in your area once again and hear the chugging of the locmotives. Sorry to see that old mansion flattened by the landslide. Big rebuild for the amazing road damage. Stay safe Pedro!
