Cast iron train O782 ( Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Hi, today morning we had nice trains running through the town and I recorded two of them. The first one was this heavy broad gauge cast iron train O782.

1 - 3) MRS C36-7 3856, C26-7MP 3674 and C44-Mi 3933 leading train O782 through the yard.

4 - 6) The cast irons moved by MRS receives a coat of lime to differentiate them from the ones transported by VLI because there are many thieves that climb on the cars while the train is running through Belo Horizonte city and through cast iron along the tracks to be collected later. Last month, one thief fell from a freight car and lost a leg and was very injurieded. The other thieves recorded videos of the scenes of the train passing over him and put in the internet. Terrible scenes.

The speed limit here is 50 km/h but this train is heavy and is preparing to stop in a siding ahead, so the crew is running in low speed.

Yes, cast iron is a very heavy cargo. In spite of the cars looks empty, they are loaded with almost 80 tons of iron.
