International Railroad Discussion > Who should yeld? (Brazil)Date: 05/11/22 08:44 Who should yeld? (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi, I received the picture 1 below from a friend that got it from the author Francisco de Paula. At first sight, it looks a photoshop work, but it is real. It was taken at MRS shops in Cachoeira Paulista, SP in the São Paulo branch. It is the old Central of Brazil shops and the tracks of a triangle go outside the main gate as you can see in the other pictures. In a scene like tge one seen in picture 1, it is nice to ask "who could yeld" to clear the way to the other? It's a joke, of course, but it is very interesting.
1) A couple of C44EMi switching near the shops main gates; 2 - 3) Google views of Cachoeira Paulista shops. Note the triangle for switching operations inside the shops. Interesting photo, thanks for posting. I believe the track configuration you are calling a triangle is what we call a wye here in the states. Charlie Date: 05/12/22 07:22 Re: Who should yeld? (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi, thanks for this hint. Yes, it's an wye.
