International Railroad Discussion > Visiting the Alco - GE 244 4301 (Brazil)Date: 05/28/22 18:37 Visiting the Alco - GE 244 4301 (Brazil) Author: pedrop On Friday 26, I and a group of friends visited Suprema Industrial Equipments to take a look at the industrial locomotives they have for rent. Our main purpose was to measure the old Alco / GE244 #4301, of former Central of Brazil railroad. This is, actually, a narrow gauge Alco RS3 with GE cab and other equipments to fit the unit in the narrow gauge tracks. The unit is higher than the standard RS3. My friend Gilser is working in a HO scale project to this model and he went there with us to get some measurements of small details on the roof and trucks. It is said that this model was the first export model of GE, produced specially to Brazil in 1953. In Brazil it was known as GE244, because it is a GE model with a Alco 244 engine. But unit 4301 received a new Alco 257 enginel by RFFSA railroad.
