Changing the side of the third rail ( Brazil)

Hi, I took these pictures today here in EVP yard. This is a device we call "Pombinho" to change the side of a third rail on dual gauge tracks. In this case, there is a wall too close to the tracks in the curve we see in the background in the picture 1. When this area was used only by small narrow gauge locomotives,  it wasn't a problem the third rail of meter gauge to stay on the left, but when the Dash 9s and other big models start to run here, they (and some big freight cars too) use to have problems while running too close to the wall. So, this device change the side of the narrow gauge for a strech of 200 meters of track. Then, another one like this change the side again to return to the normal position again.

The last picture looks more like they  removed a junction...IMHO

Actually it is a juncion started and never finished. I added that picture just to the fellows watch the tracks in the opposite direction.

The Denver & Rio Grande Western had at least one, in Alamosa.
They were needed where there were Wyes in particular.

We also have those in Australia in dual gauge areas. Here is a broad gauge (5ft 3in / 1600m) and standard gauge one at a turntable in the Dry Creek MPC in South Australia.

Very interesting. Our is more visible because the two guages have a difference of 60 cm. But yours is interesting also. There is a branch about 70 km from here where there is a transition from three rails to four rails, with the metric gauge centralized inside the broad gauge. I never seen the point where this conversion is done because it is in a privated area.
