Freight train C280 (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Hi, today is September 7th, the Independence Day in Brazil. This year we celebrates 200 years of our independence from Portugal. It is a special holiday, so just a few trains running today. But I could watch VLI narrow gauge C280 here in town yesterday. This common empty hoppers for magnezite had two flat cars with steel this time.

1) C280 meeting MRS coal O362 at the Unimetal terminal;
3- 4)  The flat cars with steel.

Very interesting indeed, and particularly sweet is the clear shot of how a dual gauge switch can be set up. I've always wondered, now I know. It must be even weirder in Adelaide, Australia, where three diffferent gauges use the same rail yards. (If I'm right about that. Maybe they don't all come together in the same place, but I have memories of photographs of some pretty baffling layouts there.)

Very nice Pedro, I always think Colorado when I think dual guage, so it's fun to see modern dual guage trackage in use!  Need a trip to Brazil.

Nathan
