It was too heavy (Brazil)

Last week a MRS flat car loaded with iron bars broke in the middle. The can is not old. They sre investigation the causes. Maybe the seven bars were too heavy or not in the gorrect position.

            Load should have been spread out, mainly over the trucks. Probability of seeing this as the cause when they investigate.

They are too heavy no be tied down, like the steel coils.

They don't tie down slabs here in the US either. The slab train from LA Harbor to Kaiser does not tie down the slabs. Gravity seems to be enough to hold them.

Most slabs are moved in gondolas primarily in the US.
I haven't seen many flat cars with steel slabs!

Have seen a number of bulkhead flats go over Tehachapi with slabs loaded.
