Fepasa Chile Brazilian SD40 action
Author: masterphots

Fepasa purchased three SD40s from Progress Rail and they entered service in June.  They don't like look an SD40 but that's what's stamped on the builders plates.  Here are a few photos of 3308 and 3309 on the eight miles between Colmo and Carolmo,  Chile.  This a short segment of the line between Llay Llay and the smelter at Ventanas on the coast.

On July 19. 2022  the following three photos are of 3308  westbound with a train of copper cathodes headed for export at the Port of Ventanas.  The copper originated at Codelco's El Teniente mine,  located near Rancagua,  about 50 miles south of Santiago.

July 28, 2022 found 3309 eastbound with copper concentrate empties returning from the Ventanas smelter.  The train will terminate at the Las Blancas loadout a few miles west of Montenegro, Chile.  Over El Tabo pass,  a head-end helper will be added to the train.

Great pics. These things are so weird!

I love that radiator section and have no idea what's going on with it. Crazy.

Beautifull pictures. I imagine Progress Rail cut the frame of these strange creatures.

Looks as though they're made of Lego. Great pictures.
