A coworker recently told me about such an overpass in her hometown of Defiance, Ohio. Because of the number of such incidents, the bridge is nicknamed "the can opener". We have such a railroad bridge here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It is a very solid concrete deck bridge built just before WWI. It has seen some scrapes over the years but hasn't budged an inch.
