It happened on December 1st, when ore train M906 was hit by a mudslide while running one track # 2 between Km 31 and 33 in Sjerra, ES. Ten cars were affected. No enjuries related.

A big mess Pedro, what kind of ore is being carried?

It's iron ore. The blue color means it is processed sinter feed.

Sorry to see another messy derailment, glad to hear no injuries except for the ore cars.

Seems like your railroads have some land slides every year.   I have noticed that when they cut thru a hill they don't cut the bank of the land far enough away from the track.  And those heavy rains you get cause them problems with moving earth.

Even with slide fences to cut the signals and good excavations....mountains are always moving...that is their tops are wearing down and washing to the foot.....so it is that on my line we have one spot that slides every few years...one time it pushed a train into the river...most of the time it just covers the tracks and a excavator digs it up and they undercut and tamp...and of course fix the slide fence. 

There are many lines that are the same as when they were built in the end of 1800's. It's not easy to open some cuts since many are very tall and covered with forest. 

8) Here it is one of those old cuts in a track linking Minas and Bahia states. This rock slide happened  yesterday.

Messy to say the least!  I noticed in photo # 2 that it appears that at least some of the cars are drawbared! Is this common?

Yes, the ore cars are drawbared in pairs to be unloaded two at time in the car dumpers.
