Chile log train behind an Alco
Author: masterphots

While down south in March I chanced on a rare single Alco RSD20 pulling a log train.  Such trains are usually pulled by a pair of Alcos spliced by an MU car.  The MU car can be an old caboose, flatcar, etc.  Here are a few photos of 1805 westbound taken on March 13, 2024.

1.  At Milantu
2.  East of Laja. Sorry about the traffic, especially the box truck.  I'd been waiting ten minutes and nary a car and then.....   The fun of railfanning.
3.  Entering Laja.  The train will continue to a cellulose plant in the Concepcion port area.

Nice train. There are log trains in my area too. Here they are heading to the cellulose factories.
