International Railroad Discussion > RUMO first ore train (Brazil)Date: 11/24/24 15:13 RUMO first ore train (Brazil) Author: pedrop Rumo rr first ore train arrived in Santa Isabel, GO today to load bauxite to the CBA aluminium plat in Aluminio, SP. This cargo belonged to VLI narrow gauge system, but since Rumo openned a new track much closer to the bauxite fields, the costumer chose Rumo to carry the bauxite.
Rumo built the new loading area seen in the pics below and ordered 360 new GDT class ore cars with 130 gross tons to move this new cargo in 120 cars trains. On January 1st, 2025 VLI will move all locomotives and gondolas used carry that bauxite that are based in Brasilia, DF to other locations, since that area do not have other cargos for it. 1 - 3) The brand new GDT class ore cars made by Greenbrier / Maxion to Rumo.
