Vale Dash-8 upgraded to Dash-9 (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Today I found Vale 1002 leading the daily limestone train C_04 waiting licence here in town. Since today is Thursday, this is C504. The unit was built as Dash-8, later upgraded at Vale Tubarão shops to Dash- 9. It was overhauled and painted by Wabtech last year among other units.
The Dash-8s were built in Brazil by GEVISA in 1991. EFVM received six units numbered 1001 to 1006. These were the first locomotives to use the BB+BB trucks also made in Brazil by former Cruzaço.
Vake EFC rr also received four Dash-8, but being broad gauge, they received the normal C-C trucks. They were numbered 501 to 504.

1)A view from the pedestrian walkway over the track,

2) The top of the cab;

3) Front trucks.

7) I preffer the old style cab when leading the trains;

8) The train seen from the square;

9) The HO decals to model EFC Dash-8s.

That's all for now.
