International Railroad Discussion > Limestone C704 (Brazil)Date: 03/11/25 16:52 Limestone C704 (Brazil) Author: pedrop On March 8, I could watch the limestone train C704 departing from EVP yard here in town bound to Vale mining mainline. It was a ninety six car train with 6,100 metric tonnes with containers and ore cars in the consist. Here are the pictures.
1) The train at mainline (Track 1) waiting licence to depart. In the background, old units parked on tracks 3 and 4; 2 -3) Departing from EVP to ECA yard. Larry Date: 03/12/25 16:56 Re: Limestone C704 (Brazil) Author: pedrop Robert, Vale and VLI use a small device in the rear end of the trains called DCA. VLI also started to test the common EOT device in some routes, but only in the routes not connected to Vale.

They are sent to a steel mill in Vitoria, ES that do not have rail connection. Some containers are openned on top; some not. They are loaded in a facility near here where they are put in a 45 degree slope and loaded with a conveyor belt. See pics below.
