Dual Gage track. Likely "narrow" gage train. Laurence ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 05/07/25 14:44 Re: 1979 Brazil Iron Ore for the World (Minas Gerais) Author: pedrop Great scenes! That's Lagoinha. We can see the BH bus Terminal on the left. To the right, everything was put down. In the 1980's, the government opened the Metro system and the freight corridor through that area. Another dual tracks was laid to the freight trains and two tracks for the Metro. All building seen on the right side of the Arrudas river were demolished. The river was sunk ten meter and covered to allow more lanes to the roads in both sides. So, your photos are very nostalgic for all us that live in BH area.
I imagine you got more pics of that train. Please post more of it. It looks it is heading to Vale system, that was called CVRD on those days. The new connection with CVRD/EFVM was under construction on that time, of which the first section linking Sabara to Barao de Cocais was opened only in 1984 . The second section linking Barao de Cocais to Costa Lacerda was opened in 1996. We can see three people standing on the old Lagoinha train stop. For sure they are waiting for a passenger train to somewhere around BH. Congrats for these pictures. They have too many stories to tell us nowadays. Here it is the Google link to the same area nowadays. I imagine you were standing in the pedestrian walkway or in the road viaduct near the Bus Terminal. Even the viaduct was changed there. https://maps.app.goo.gl/6U3VBz697x3LHztb8?g_st=ac Posted from Android Pedro Rezende Vespasiano MG, https://youtube.com/c/minasgeraisrailways1 Edited 1 time(s).
