International Railroad Discussion > water over railsDate: 05/16/25 11:42 water over rails Author: GAPRoute I've seen several videos where trains are running thru water over the rails. I believe these were usually from India or surrounding countries. I am wondering how this is possible since I am told American locos can't get their traction motors wet. What is different?

While I would not say widely used, diesel hydraulic locomotives are used in places outside of North America and in general appearance don't look that much different.
