International Railroad Discussion > Trams of Hakodate Japan, and a switch towerDate: 05/20/25 18:57 Trams of Hakodate Japan, and a switch tower Author: WrongWayMurphy We did some sightseeing in Hakodate a couple weeks ago, and got around town via tram.
These cars are really small, seat maybe 20 and can carry 35 with standees. Date: 05/20/25 19:01 Re: Trams of Hakodate Japan, and a switch tower Author: WrongWayMurphy A colorful mix of older and newer cars.
Everyone in the cars were quiet. There were no station stops called. One had better pay attention. Date: 05/20/25 19:05 Re: Trams of Hakodate Japan, and a switch tower Author: WrongWayMurphy This switch tower was a neat surprise.
Everyone in Japan is so polite, courteous, quiet, and respectful. Plenty of Americans are too, but certainly not EVERYONE. Date: 05/20/25 22:03 Re: Trams of Hakodate Japan, and a switch tower Author: cchan006 WrongWayMurphy Wrote:

Like other cities, Hakodate City Trams are supposed to have announcements, usually with a musical jingle or chime sounds. I found a YouTube "video" (audio only) of Hakodate tram's jingles and chimes posted 5 years ago. 2023 post has Japanese, English "The next stop is...", and Chinese stop announcements. Hope you were able to visit Mt. Hakodate, especially at night to enjoy the view. Thanks for sharing your enjoyment of Hakodate's charming trams. |
