International Railroad Discussion > Brand new EMD testing the couple of new Wabtech model (Brazil)

Today 04/10/2025, friends of mine were following the tests with the new Wabtech CM20ACi ordered by CBH in Australia. The tests are happening on a section of VLI rr tracks near the EMD plant. Yesterday, EMD delivered another SD70ACeBB to VLI and Wabtech did an agreement with VLI to use that SD70 to test the Wabtech units. VLI also provided a couple of U20C locomotives to be used in the tests. Here are some pics from my friends.

1) VLI 6193 is the second SD70ACe-BB in a new order of eight units for the grain trains. Here it is at EPM yard.

2) The couple of Wabtech dual cabs CM20ACi between the couple of GE U20C and the brand new SD70ACe-BB  at Prudente de Morais yard (EPM);

3) The units testing near in the EMBRAPA fields near the EMD plant. All the three pictures from my friend Gutierrez Lhamas.

Thanks for posting these pics Pedro. Great to see more new SD70ACe-BB's.

Australia now will have SD70BB also. EMD of Brazil produced two SD70BBJ "joule" to a costumer there. I imagine for FMG. The units are on trucks right now near Belo Horizonte city. They weight 196 metric tonnes without the trucks. So, it is a very heavy locomotive.
