The initial segment was called the Shinagawa Line, an end-to-end line that started service in 1885. Merger of two lines became the initial Yamanote Line (still not a loop) in 1909. 1925 was when the entire loop was completed and started service. I caught the 2 "wrapped" E235s during the month long celebration. If you caught them, too, I don't feel bad posting my video captures, because I know you would have gotten much better looking shots. :-) Nice shot and catch at Yoyogi! - Silver end with narrow green stripe, celebrating the Class 205 (1984-2005). - Solid green end, celebrating the Class 103 (1964-1988). - Close up of the 100th Anniversary drumhead. |
