International Railroad Discussion > Enoden Line at Hase (Kamakura Japan) 10/14/25Date: 11/08/25 07:25 Enoden Line at Hase (Kamakura Japan) 10/14/25 Author: erielackawanna Enoden Line train bound for Kamakura arrives at Hase Station, led by classic 1000-series cars (with a 300-series set trailing). Operated by the Enoshima Electric Railway, the Enoden is a narrow-gauge (3 ft 6 in) line that runs 10 km between Kamakura and Fujisawa, Japan. It serves as both a vital local commuter route—used daily by students and residents traveling between seaside neighborhoods—and a sightseeing line, carrying thousands of tourists to Hasedera, the Great Buddha, and the beach. The line’s compact stations, street-running segments, and vintage rolling stock are amazing. Charles Freericks 10/14/25

Enoden is known to Japan's non-railfan pop culture, too, used for filming TV shows, music videos, and other "mainstream" entertainment. Furthermore, Shonan Area has parallels to SoCal's "beach culture" with surfing, boating, "bikinis" and other watersport activities. > The line’s compact stations, street-running segments, and vintage > rolling stock are amazing. And that charm has won over many people, railfans and non-railfans. Thanks for the nice writeup! |
