Pedro in Japan - part 2
Author: pedrop

Due to the hollidays of the end of the year, I delayed a bit to add the second part of my trip to Japan. Here it is.

From Hiroshima, I moved to Osaka city. I had plans to visit a few atractions in the city and I chose a hotel near the Chuo Line, what allowed me to move easily through the city.

1) The Shinkansen ticket from Hiroshima to Osaka. It is necessary to take pictures of these tickets if you want a recollection of them since they are automatically collected by the gates when you arrive in the destination;

2- 3) I bought one of the many option of "bentõ" sold in the Shinkansen stations to eat during the trip. This one had a beautifull box that I saved as a recollection.

Pedro, great stuff!

I see "G-Shock on rails" in your photos and videos of Osaka Metro. That was a nickname given by some Japanese railfans when the design sketches were released to the public. I made a trip to nab them when they started revenue service in 2023 - future report.

And Osaka Metro's Midousuji Line is the first subway line in the Osaka area, 2nd only to Tokyo Metro's Ginza Line in Japan. I've been collecting materials for both lines. I have information to make complete mockery of "OR" (Operating Ratio) used by American Class I railroads - again, future report, with a smile and a snicker.

In the second video, I overheard a kid asking someone (mom?) "Why is there freight (train) there?" Looks like some EF210s and containers are visible through the windows. Ajigawaguchi Freight Terminal is right near the passenger station - might be useful for future visitors to Japan, especially if they are interested in the Super Rail Cargo (M250 freight EMU).

Thanks for your comments. Yes, there was a couple of japaneses with a kid from Osaka talking to me while I was filming the trip. They were curious about me and my country Brazil.
I perceived the freight yard but I couldn't move from where I was to film it. I lost a nice opportunity, for sure.
