International Railroad Discussion > Tragedy in Thailand, crane collapses on moving trainDate: 01/14/26 06:18 Tragedy in Thailand, crane collapses on moving train Author: stevelv Date: 01/14/26 11:01 Re: Tragedy in Thailand, crane collapses on moving train Author: Soo715 That is horrific. At least 32 dead now. Weirdly ironic in that it was a construction crane from the in-progress elevated high speed rail line from Bangkok to Laos that fell onto the meter guage SRT line directly below. I've taken train on that route many times, most recently just a few weeks ago. I was in a second class sleeper and hadn't been in one of those newer sleepers before. I noticed the lack of emergency exit windows--which sounds like a contributing factor to the high casualty numbers.
