International Railroad Discussion > An ES58ACi had its cab chopped off by a MoW machine (Brazil)Date: 01/14/26 14:06 An ES58ACi had its cab chopped off by a MoW machine (Brazil) Author: pedrop An accident between an ore train and a MoW machine almost ended in a tragedy on Vale mining Carajas rr (EFC) 0n January 10, 2026 at 10:10 PM at Km 72 of the Vale broad gauge system. A MoW gang was working with a ballast shouder guard machine when a failure on it turned the arm to the side of the tracks where and ore train was speeding at 40 km/h. The arm of the MoW machine started cuting the side of the first locomotive and ended chopping off the roof of the second unit. The engineer survived without injuties. Behing the ore train there was a train of diesel tanks cars in the same tracks. If the accident had happened with it, we could had a terrible accident. The photos are impressive.

8 - 9) The damage on the cab of the first locomotive. Interesting to note that about six years ago there was a similar accident with a MoW machine and an ore train there in EFC rr. At that time, the locomotive also hit the arm of machine working on the tracks at side. In both accidents, there were serious damage to the locomotives.
