International Railroad Discussion > Fepasa Chile BNSF to FepasaDate: 01/30/26 01:19 Fepasa Chile BNSF to Fepasa Author: masterphots In 2011-12, Fepasa bought six former BN/BNSF SD40-2s. They were rebuilt/regauged in Chile by Casagrande Motori S.A, The first three arrived at the port of Valparaiso in February 2011. A year later, three more followed. Five of the six remain in service, No. 3305 having been destroyed in a horrofic head on crash in June 2024. Here are photos of the evolution of No. 3301/BNSF 6379. Note the carbody has been lengthened, in order to lower it by relocaring certain components, so as to meet the Fepasa loading gauge.

Date: 01/30/26 01:23 Re: Fepasa Chile BNSF to Fepasa Author: masterphots While at the rebuilder, Fepasa management instituted an 'Art in Motion' program and held a competition among local artists. 3301 then emerged in the livery below, followed by 3302-03. The program was not continued on smaller units as originally planned and after about ten years the three SD40-2s were repainted in today's colors.
