NdeM Power. A couple of shots from Neg's in my collection, of NdeM Mallet's. 3ft Gauge 2.6.6.2 HR-01 No 365, built by Alco back in 1928, withdrawn in early 1960's with standard Gaugeing. Standard Gauge HR-4 2.6.6.2 No 2033 built by Alco in 1938, shown at Valle de Mexico on the 21.3. 1961, a handsome looking machine. Photographers unkown. Date: 02/11/26 23:38 Re: NdeM HR-01. HR-4 Mallets. Author: dwatry Both of those are amazing locomotives for different reasons! I didn't know the n.g. had any artics - I thought it was all 2-8-0s. And that 2033 is one spiffy engine.

More, more !!!! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/13/26 16:27 by train1275. Date: 02/13/26 16:18 Re: NdeM HR-01. HR-4 Mallets. Author: railstiesballast I do not see that there is any difference in the diameter of the front and rear cylinders, are these truly Mallets?
Date: 02/13/26 16:26 Re: NdeM HR-01. HR-4 Mallets. Author: train1275 Actually the HR-01 and HR-4 are articulated vs. mallets. The narrow gauge HR-01 having 15" x 22" cylinders and the standard gauge modern HR-4 having 18" x 30" cylinders.
The HR-2 and HR-3 class (not shown) were true mallets. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/13/26 16:29 by train1275. Date: 02/14/26 11:30 Re: NdeM HR-01. HR-4 Mallets. Author: PHall Looking at the picture of the HR-01 I see four? domes and it appears that three of them are sand domes. Did they really need that much sand capacity?
Date: 02/14/26 17:50 Re: NdeM HR-01. HR-4 Mallets. Author: Utahfannz My statement re HR-01- HR-4 Locomotives was misleading. As some have pointed out, They are Aticulated Locomotives, NOT Malletts.

Author: RoadForeman It appears there are two sand domes (with sand lines running down boiler sides), and one round steam dome in the middle. The other one might be the bell-somewhat blurred.

Both of the front sand domes have sand lines going forward while the rear dome next to the cab has two sand lines, one forward and one aft. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/18/26 11:05 by PHall. |
