I think so. Interesting that they do not have a car to inspect the tracks ahead of the train. In Brazil, all tourist and long distance passenger trains need a "batedor" ahead of the trains for safety. Many accidents have been prevented by this practice.

Unfortunate derailment of the Rovos Rail tourist train.  Thanks for sharing this news item.  Overall the track structure appears well built.
