Brand new ES44s to Arauco, Brazil
Author: pedrop

From Wabtec  press

"Fresh off the line: the first locomotive for the Sucuriú Project is here!

Manufactured by Wabtec Corporation, the first #ES44 was assembled this month and now we officially celebrate its delivery to ARAUCO Brasil. After leaving the facility in Contagem, the locomotives will proceed to the commissioning process before beginning operations alongside the startup of the Inocência plant in Mato Grosso do Sul (Brazil).

A total of 26 locomotives will make up the railway fleet supporting the logistics system of Arauco’s new unit in Brazil.

Together, we’re shaping a new chapter in logistics infrastructure in Brazil—and we’re just getting started."

I hope to see them at MRS Barreiro yard (FBO) in Belo Horizonte as soon they leave Wabtec plant.

Yes, it is. It is called Sucuriú project. Sucuriú is the name of a river that looks like a Sucuri snake winding through the plain.

Great coverage as usual, Pedro!
Don't recall seeing these on any of your previous posts.
I take it "ARAUCO" is a new operation???
Keep up the great work!

Yes, it is a new operator. Arauco is cellulose producer group. They are building a huge plant in Mato Grosso state and a branch to connect with Rumo rr. The units will work on Rumo system until the line to be finished.
The new ES44s are on the gates of Wabtech today. I imagine they will leave the factory today.
