International Railroad Discussion > Progress Rail GT46CU-ACe Gen III locomotives in AustraliaDate: 04/21/26 04:09 Progress Rail GT46CU-ACe Gen III locomotives in Australia Author: 9E56 On Queensland's 3'6" gauge tracks, Bowen Rail Company train BA59 was between Cockool and Birralee on Sunday 19 April 2026 on its way from Carmichael Mine to the export terminal at Abbot Point, on the Pacific coast. GT46CU-ACe Gen III locomotives 4615 and 4608 were leading 84 coal wagons, so the train weight would have been about 9,815 tons. Both locos were built by Progress Rail in Muncie IN (4615 in 2024 and 4608 in 2021) and are powered by 4,300 horsepower 16-710G3C-T3 diesel engines.

Unfortunately the CBH CM20-ACi locomotives are more than 3,500 kilometres away! I hope to see them working some time next year, but for now it's just too far away for me. |
