International Railroad Discussion > Night Photo - Christmas Eve at Gare du NordDate: 05/27/04 11:18 Night Photo - Christmas Eve at Gare du Nord Author: AndyD I had the privelege of getting to go to Europe over the Christmas break last year, and was in Paris on Christmas Eve. With all the museums closed down for the day, and not yet hungry for dinner, I decided to head over to one of Paris' six major stations. Gare du Nord (north station) is home to most of the trains heading towards northern France, Belgium, a few to Germany, and the Eurostars to Great Britain. Shot was taken looking back towards the station building from the platforms which extend out about 1000 feet to accomodate the 1/4 mile long trains.

I was puzzled as to why the Eurostar consist was 'way over where it is in the photo, but I suppose it was an inbound that simply unloaded over there and will be moved to servicing before being placed over to the right for reloading and another trip north to the U.K. Anyway, great photo and does anyone else notice that the station facade looking under the canopy looks just like the front view of Cincinnati Union Terminal? da timecruncher Date: 06/06/04 18:17 Almost like a painting Author: jbwest Beautiful image....one of the best I've seen here. Not a bad result for a rainy night. Congrats.
