Sigma 70-300 mms lens question
Author: Railfan4Christ

My Canon 55-250 lens isn't very good, IMO. I was looking at getting a Sigma 70-300 zoom, was wondering if anyone uses it and loves it. Or should I pass on it? Thanks, Tom.

I use the 70-300 f4/5.6 APO DG on my Nikon D610. It does a wonderful job for me. In fact it outperforms the Nikkor that it replaced. Nice and sharp and a fast focus. Also not to heavy. I would buy another in a heartbeat if I ever drop this one. And this one does macro as well. Not as well as a dedicated macro lens, but good enough for a railfans needs. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Try Canon "L" glass. Pricey but worth it.

Tamaron makes an excellent 70-300mm VC lens also for about $450 for Cannon and Nikon. It took me a long time to decide between it and its Nikon equivalent.

I use a Canon 70 - 300 mm lens that I replaced a Canon 100 - 400 mm "L" lens. I'm very happy with it and the reason I went to the 70 - 300 mm lens is that it is lighter, not like carrying a piece of lead pipe with me...
