On 06 May 2017 from @1000 EDST to @1800 EDST
in conjunction with the Mars, PA (@25 mi North of Pittsburgh, PA on the AVR)
"Martian New Years" Festival, the North Hills Amateur Radio Club will be
operating using special event call K3M from the miniature train passenger pavilion
just behind the preserved ex-B&O 1888 station-museum.

Mostly 20 and 40 phone @55 kHz up from the bottom of the phone bands.

I'll be working CW @55 kHz up from the bottom of the CW bands with my
mighty (?) Elecraft K-1.

A special QSL card is offered. N2MA is the route. (corrected from original posting)

We will likely be posted on several "DX" sites.

Those in the Pittsburgh, PA area should consider visiting the
festival which observes the new year on the planet Mars. Each
Mars orbit takes about 2 earth-years.

This festival will have many programs and exhibits from NASA and
the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Astronauts will be in attendance.
The Carnegie Science Museum will have an inflatable planetarium.

Good people, great fun! Children of all ages welcome.

There is a miniature RR (7.5" if memory serves) that orbits the
historical society's preserved depot-museum grounds. There is a
vintage B&O caboose on the property along with a tiny Plymouth
4-wheel locomotive.

Mars is a delightful little town with a good sense of humour in
that they have a 15' model flying saucer on the village commons.
