Canon 6D Video Noise
Author: philhoov

I have both a Canon 70D and Canon 6D that I use for video, combined with a Rode VideoMicro boom mike with dead cat muff.
I've noticed I get more wind noise with the 6D setup than I do with the 70D setup (when shooting at the same time).
I can't find any settings in the 6D menus to control the sound level and there are no adjustments on the Rode mic.
Suggestions?

I don't have a 6D but does your menu have what is described here:

Hi Ryan ~
Thanks for the advice.
I don't recall seeing that menu, but it must be there if it's in the manual.
Gee ~ you mean I'm supposed to read the manual??????
I will see if I can find it.

It's actually 403 pages.
I printed it out, but had never looked at it.
After looking at the relevant pages, I'm still not sure I can figure out the settings needed.
I have a Rode boom mic and it sounds like the settings only work with the internal mic.
My 70D is easier to use and gets better results with video than my more expensive 6D.
I need to read up on the 6D manual and give it another chance, but the 70D is more intuitive.
Phil
