35mm slide scanner
Author: DMC

Want to get a slide scanner for several thousand slides that i would like to scan.
I figure a Cannon or a Epson that scan four slides at a time.
Anybody got any comments on these and going this route?

I use an Epson V550 that does 4 at a time. Modest price and good quality.

I use a Epson 500 and have over 4100 scans with no problem. Price is right.
I was using a Minolta Dimage II. years ago with some MS upgrades it didn't have the drivers needed and didn't want to go with Vue Scan which would have fixed the problem so I went with the Epson on recomendations on the Epson 500 at the time.
Still have the Minolta and maybe someday I'll try Vue Scan.

If you can get your hands on a used Nikon Coolscan these are great and what I have used in the past.

Please do not confuse a "35mm slide scanner" with a "flatbed scanner that scans 35mm slides". They both have their merits and purpose, but you need to base your choice on your goals, budget, and available time to learn and perform the task.

I have owned 3 Epson Perfection scanners in the last 10 years and scanned over 500,000 images.
I just bought a V800 Photo and I'm liking it too.
I won't buy anything else.
