FRA Safety map site down?
Author: K3HX

I tried for a few days to get into the FRA Safety Map
site without luck.

It comes up with a random checkerboard of map segments.

I'd be grateful if someone with computer knowledge could
check the site for proper operation.

Same checkerboarding here using FireFox.
Looks to be working with Internet Explorer.

Does not work for me on a Mac running OS X using Firefox, Safari, or Chrome.

I get a map but the labels are wrong. Seattle and Portland are now around the DC area. Regina has moved to the Oklahoma area. Getting same thing with Explorer and Chrome.

The map mentioned has a graphical representation of RR
lines with almost all crossings indicated and crossing
number listed.
If you click on the crossing, most often you can
determine the owning / trackage rights RR and the
milepost. Some detectors are noted. Also, mileposts
are shown along the lines where space permits.

Very helpful when planning a "picture taking trip" in
that you can determine (typically from Steam Powered
Video atlases) where the detectors are located and
with the crossing MP information, know when to get
busy and set up.

There are other ways to determine the MP of the crossing
you are at but the map was by far the easiest to use.

Thanks. That is the one I've been using and it is still
producing a checkerboard.

Are you able to get it to operate properly?
