Trains.com website redirects to Amazon phishing site (iOS Safari)
Author: ShoreLineRoute

Hello all,

I noticed a few days ago that when I try to access Trains.com that my Safari iPad browser gets immediately redirected to an Amazon phishing site (fake gift certificate award). This doesn’t happen for other Kalmbach sites such as Model Railroader. I don’t dare try using my PC’s browser there anymore due to malware risks. I’ve alerted Kalmbach to this problem, has anyone else experienced this?

The address that you want is trc.trains.com.

Try that. You'll get to trains magazine.

On my iPad trains.com automatically forwards to trc.trains.com

No issues.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ve seen reports of this exact problem from other iOS users, it may be specific to the iOS 11 update, my iPhone on iOS 10 doesn’t do this. Strange that this issue only affects the Trains website and not any of the many other sites I frequent though.

Same here, no issues on my iPhone with iOS 11.2.1 using Safari, Firefox and Chrome.

I suspect your local DNS server had or has a problem. It works fine on my iPad with the latest IOS.

Late to the party, but my iPad was doing this also. Fixed it with a memory erase, deleted the link from favorites. Put link back, all ok.
