Broadcastify streams in Upstate NY
Author: twropr

Doe anyone know what happened to the great Mohawk radio stream that monitored CSX and Pan Am from Fort Plain?  It was great - I could hear most CSX trains all the way from CP 173 to CP 215 and several NC dispatcher antennas in addition to the Pan Am RTC covering most everything west of the Hoosac Tunnel.  It went off air in early June and has not been heard from since.
The streams at Syracuse/Solvay and Dunkirk are functional but cover trains for only about 5 miles on either side of the antenna.  The terrain in Upstate NY is flat and back when I lived there the radios west of Utica could be heard a long way.  In the early '80's when I was driving east on the NY Thruway I could hear the dispatcher from the Dunkirk antenna almost all the way to Buffalo.  I wonder what the broadcaster needs to do to get his radio to increase its range?
